from the Hellenic Federation Societies of USA, and the Panthessalian
Association Aesklipios.
A brief Historical File of the Dancing Group of
"LYKEION TON ELLINIDON" OF LARISSA
The "Lykeion ton Ellinidon" of Larissa was established in 1979 completing 20
years of cultural performance and offer in our country displaying traditional dances,
songs, customs from the rich Greek tradition, which dates back to ancient times and
which is a product of the research of many years. The opulent wardrobe of the Lykeion,
which exhibits magnificent authentic costumes and affluent traditional jewelry should be
especially pointed out.
Apart from the dancing groups, the "Lykeion ton Ellinidon" is occupied with
philosophical, ethnological and other subjects of Greek culture.
There are many successful appearances of the dancing groups both in Greece and abroad.
Some of the milestones in the history of the dancing group are the acquisition of the
first position (1st prize) among 22 countries in the Festival of AGRIGENTO (ITALY)
February 1988, the international appearance on TV Paris-Theatre JACQUES MARTIN- by the
satellite channel TV5 ( October 1992), the cooperation with the French Ministry of Culture
in France as concerns performances in the most significant cultural centers in North
France (1992) as well as two trips in the U.S.A, in the states of California and in
WHITTIES THEATRE of Los Angeles (May 1993).

EPOCHES" (THE GREEKS AND THE SEASONS) and "CHALKINA PNEFSTA TIS MAKEDONIAS"
(BRASS BANDS OF MACEDONIA). |
